The yellow that holds its sun. Super Sun runs a saturated golden yellow — De Ruiter breeding tuned to lock the carotenoid pigment that most yellow roses lose within a week of cutting. The 39-petal head opens to a clean medium spiral with the warm gold that florists describe as "true yellow" rather than the cream-leaning or green-tipped registers of cheaper yellow varieties. The color reads as sunshine from across a room and stays that way.

The grow story

Grown at 3,200 meters in our own production in Cayambe, Ecuador, in the high Andes. Yellow carotenoids are the most fade-prone pigments in the rose trade — warmth speeds the breakdown, sunlight without cold balance washes the saturation. The cold Andean nights slow the pigment-loss reaction to a crawl while the strong equatorial light keeps loading more gold into every layer. The result is a yellow that arrives bright and finishes bright. Cut, hydrated, graded, and cold-packed within 48 hours of harvest.

Best for

Get-well and congratulations retail programs, summer event work, friendship and graduation arrangements, sunflower-led farm-table recipes, and any palette that needs a real yellow rather than a pale stand-in. Yellow leads warmth in mixed bouquets — one Super Sun head can carry the recipe's emotional tone. Anchor the bright register from our wholesale rose range.

Pairs beautifully with

  • Candlelight (soft yellow) for the tonal yellow gradient
  • Brighton (lemon yellow) for the cooler yellow step
  • Momentum (golden yellow) for matched-tone massing
  • Mandarin Xpression (intense orange) to push toward harvest
  • Solidago for golden filler that extends the saturation

Care notes

Re-cut at 45° under running water; first hydration in 95–100°F water with preservative, then hold at 34–38°F. Strip foliage below the water line and keep buckets scrupulously clean — yellow roses show bacterial stem-browning before any other color in the catalog. Moderately ethylene-sensitive. Yellow tones read warmer under tungsten and slightly cooler under LED, but the saturation holds clear in both.
