The warm neutral that quietly replaced white in modern wedding work. Where Vendela stays in the ivory register, Quicksand drifts warmer — champagne in daylight, taupe under reception lighting, faintly blush in photographs — one rose covering three palette jobs, which is why designers reorder it before they run out rather than after.

The grow story

Grown at 3,200 meters in our own production fields in Cayambe, Ecuador. Muted tones are the hardest to grow well: at lower altitudes heat washes champagne toward dishwater gray. The cold Andean nights slow the bloom and hold Quicksand's warmth through the petal, while the strong equatorial light builds the dense 45-petal head that opens in the slow, quartered spiral the variety is photographed for. Cut, graded, and cold-packed within 48 hours of harvest.

Best for

Boho and desert-toned weddings, antique and editorial palettes, neutral-on-neutral tablescapes. Quicksand is the bridge tone — it warms an all-white design without breaking it and calms a terracotta palette without dulling it. Book early for September and October dates; warm neutrals sell through first in fall. Build the rest of the palette from our wholesale rose range.

Care notes

Re-cut at 45° under running water; first hydration in 95–100°F water with preservative, then store at 34–38°F. Quicksand opens a half-shade warmer than it ships — plan the palette around the day-three tone. Leave guard petals on until the piece is built; taupe shows handling marks more than saturated colors. Moderately ethylene-sensitive; standard cooler discipline applies.

What working pros say

"Quicksand is the rose I sell when the bride says 'neutral but not white.' It photographs blush, reads taupe in the room, and the couple thinks I custom-dyed it."

— Wedding floral designer, Texas (11 yrs experience)

"I stopped stocking three separate neutrals. Quicksand opens slow and quartered, so the Tuesday install still looks deliberate on Saturday."

— Studio florist, Mountain West (9 yrs experience)
