The ivory standard of the wedding trade. Vendela is not a bright white like Mondial — it carries a quiet cream undertone that flatters skin in photographs and warms up candlelit rooms, which is why planners who have specified it once tend to specify it forever.

The grow story

A Lex+ breeding-house classic from the Netherlands, grown at 3,200 meters in our own production in Cayambe, Ecuador. Altitude does for whites what it does for reds, just more visibly: thicker petals resist the bruising and edge-browning that plague lowland white roses in transit. Vendela from our fields arrives clean, with the elegant elongated bud the variety is known for. Cut, conditioned, and cold-packed within 48 hours of harvest.

Best for

Weddings above all — bridal bouquets, ceremony arches, ivory-and-green palettes. Also the safer call than stark white for sympathy work and formal corporate events, since cream reads warm rather than clinical. Designers planning all-white events often run Vendela and a brighter white side by side for tonal depth. 60 cm covers most work; 70 cm for altar and pedestal scale. Find tonal partners across our wholesale rose range.

Pairs beautifully with

  • Mondial (white) for layered white-on-white tonal work
  • Quicksand (champagne) for the warm neutral palette
  • Barista (coffee brown) for antique-toned editorial looks
  • Hydrangea White for ceremony-scale volume
  • Lisianthus for ruffled texture between roses

Care notes

Re-cut at 45° under running water; hydrate first in 95–100°F water with preservative. Store at 34–38°F. Handle by the stem, not the head — ivory petals show fingerprint bruising more than any other color. Leave guard petals on until the piece is built. Moderately ethylene-sensitive; standard cooler discipline applies.

What working pros say

"Vendela is the rose I trust when the bride says ivory and means it. It never goes gray under reception lighting, and the bud shape gives me that tailored look even before it opens."

— Studio floral designer, Pacific Northwest (18 yrs experience)

"Vendela is still my default ivory after hundreds of weddings. The elongated bud does half the design work in a tailored bouquet."

— Wedding florist, Mid-Atlantic (16 yrs experience)
