Barista
The signature earthy brown. Grown in our own production at 3,200 meters altitude in Cayambe, Ecuador.
A true coffee-brown rose — milky latte at the petal base deepening to roasted umber at the edge. Where Quicksand stops at champagne taupe, Barista commits fully to brown, and that commitment is the point: it is the rose stylists pull when an antique palette needs an anchor darker than any neutral can provide.
The grow story
Barista is grown at 3,200 meters in our own production in Cayambe, Ecuador, high on the Andean plateau. Brown roses are unforgiving to grow — too much heat and the tone goes muddy gray, too little light and it stays beige. The altitude solves both at once: intense equatorial sun builds the pigment while sharply cold nights set it, so the coffee tone arrives clean and stays clean. Stems are cut, conditioned, graded, and cold-packed within 48 hours of harvest.

Best for
Editorial shoots, antique and vintage-toned weddings, fall tablescapes, menswear-inspired boutonniere work, and the terracotta-and-toffee palettes that keep climbing the mood boards. Barista is a small-dose rose for most designs — five to seven stems shift an entire arrangement's temperature. Order 50 cm for boutonnieres and bud vases; 60 cm covers centerpiece work. Build the neutrals around it from our wholesale rose range.
Pairs beautifully with
- Quicksand (champagne taupe) — the natural tonal step up
- Vendela (ivory) to lift the palette without breaking it
- Mandala (antique cream bicolor) for layered old-world texture
- Candlelight (cream garden spray) for soft ruffle between heads
- Dusty Miller for silver-gray foliage contrast
Care notes
Re-cut at 45° under running water; hydrate first in 95–100°F water with preservative, then hold at 34–38°F. Brown tones show dehydration early — petal edges crisp before the head wilts — so keep water levels high through the install window. Leave guard petals on; they shade a tone darker and read as intentional. Moderately ethylene-sensitive.
What working pros say
"Barista sells itself on the design table. I put one bunch next to the ivories during a consult and the client upgrades the palette on the spot. No other brown opens this evenly."
— Wedding floral designer, Texas (12 yrs experience)
"I used to dye for brown. Barista ended that — the color is grown in, so it doesn't bleed in the vase or stain the whites next to it."
