Achillea Yellow
The signature saturated yellow. Grown by curated partner growers across the Ecuadorian and Colombian highlands.
The flat plane in a category of round shapes. Achillea — yarrow, to gardeners — holds hundreds of tiny golden florets in a level, plate-like cluster atop a strong stem, and that horizontal geometry is its design value: among the domes, sprays, and spikes of a mixed arrangement, the flat yarrow head gives the eye a place to rest. The ferny gray-green foliage underneath earns its keep too, doing quiet textural work where the cluster meets the recipe.
The grow story
Sourced from our curated partner growers in the Ecuadorian and Colombian highlands. Fillers and foliage may grow at lower altitudes than roses, but the cold-chain integrity and grading standards remain consistent with our own production. Yarrow is a tough highland perennial that colors deepest in strong light — the equatorial sun keeps the gold saturated, and cool nights keep the clusters dense rather than leggy.

Best for
Wildflower and meadow-style designs, autumn palettes alongside terracotta and rust, modern work that wants graphic shape contrast, and everlasting programs — achillea is one of the best drying flowers in the catalog, holding its gold for months. It reads rustic in a mason jar and architectural in a low bowl. Set the focal layer from our wholesale rose range.
Pairs beautifully with
- Kahala (toffee-apricot rose) for the autumn editorial build
- Sunflower to scale the golden register up
- Craspedia for yellow as dot beside yellow as plane
- Solidago for golden spray texture between clusters
- Eucalyptus Parvifolia for fine green that cools the gold
Care notes
Cut mature — clusters harvested fully open hold; immature ones droop and never recover, which is the grading partner farms are vetted on. Re-cut at 45° and hydrate in clean water with preservative. Strip the ferny foliage below the water line; it decays quickly when submerged. Low ethylene sensitivity and strong cooler tolerance at 34–38°F. To dry, hang upside down in a dark, ventilated space — color holds remarkably.
What working pros say
"Yarrow is my shape contrast. Everything in flowers is a ball or a spike — that flat gold plate is what makes a mixed recipe look designed."
— Studio florist, Boulder (10 yrs experience)
"I sell it twice. Fresh in the arrangement, then I tell clients to hang it upside down when the roses fade — yarrow's the souvenir."
— Wedding floral designer, Burlington (12 yrs experience)
