Tycoon
The signature bright orange. Grown in our own production at 3,200 meters altitude in Cayambe, Ecuador.
The yellow that leans antique. Tycoon runs a warm mustard-yellow at the bloom body, transitioning to lighter peach-apricot tones at the petal edges — Interplant breeding that puts vintage gold into the rose category. The 35-petal head opens to a classic high-centered hybrid-tea form with the kind of ochre warmth that distinguishes Tycoon from the brighter golden yellows like Super Sun or Momentum. Yellow with depth, gold with edge interest.
The grow story
Grown at 3,200 meters in our own production in Cayambe, Ecuador, in the high Andes. Mustard-yellow tones are the most demanding in the yellow category — they require both carotenoid pigment loading and a subtle pink-anthocyanin trace at the edges to create the antique read, two pigment systems working in parallel. The cold Andean nights and slow high-altitude cycle hold both pigments stable in their separate regions. Heat or quick growth pushes the rose either bright yellow (losing the antique character) or pure peach (losing the gold). Cut, hydrated, graded, and cold-packed within 48 hours of harvest.

Best for
Vintage and antique-styled weddings, autumn and harvest event work, editorial palettes that want yellow with sophistication rather than cheer, and any recipe where the brief says "gold" instead of "yellow." Tycoon also bridges yellow and peach palettes — a few stems pulls the warm range together. Build the antique palette from our wholesale rose range.
Pairs beautifully with
- Quicksand (champagne taupe) for the matched antique register
- Kahala (toffee-apricot) to extend the warm gold-peach gradient
- Brighton (lemon yellow) for contrast within the yellow family
- Free Spirit (copper-orange bicolor) for the fiery companion
- Eucalyptus Parvifolia for fine green that flatters mustard yellow
Care notes
Re-cut at 45° under running water; first hydration in 95–100°F water with preservative, then hold at 34–38°F. Strip foliage below the water line and keep buckets clean — yellows show bacterial browning first. The peach-apricot edges intensify with full opening, so for the most pronounced bicolor effect, build a day or two after delivery. Moderately ethylene-sensitive.
What working pros say
"Tycoon is the gold I quote for the antique briefs. Brides who say 'no yellow' light up when they see this one — it doesn't read as yellow at all, it reads as gold."
— Wedding floral designer, Hudson Valley (12 yrs experience)
"The mustard body with apricot edges is the autumn palette in a single stem. October weddings always end up with a box of Tycoon in the build."
— Event florist, New England (10 yrs experience)
