Orange at full density. Mandarin Xpression compresses 80 petals into a tight rosette form that opens like a swirl of citrus peel — the saturated orange territory of Orange Crush rebuilt as a garden rose. Where standard oranges read sleek and modern, Mandarin Xpression reads abundant and hand-grown, and the sheer petal density means the color comes layered with shadow and depth instead of flat saturation.

The grow story

Grown at 3,200 meters in our own production in Cayambe, Ecuador, high in the Andes. Eighty petals of carotenoid-rich orange is double work for the plant — pigment and mass at once — and only the high-altitude economy covers it: cold nights bank sugar and slow the cycle so each layer builds full thickness, while the intense equatorial sun loads the color to the petal edge. Each harvest is cut, hydrated, graded, and cold-packed within 48 hours of leaving the block.

Best for

Fall weddings and Thanksgiving programs, citrus-themed summer events, Dia de los Muertos work where marigold tones lead, and editorial shoots that want orange with texture. The rosette face makes it a focal flower at a fraction of typical focal pricing. 50 cm for low lush work; 60 cm for hand-tieds. Build the sunset story from our wholesale rose range.

Pairs beautifully with

  • Orange Crush (saturated orange) for the standard-form mass behind it
  • Atomic (mandarin-red orange) to deepen toward red
  • Momentum (golden yellow) for the warm gradient downward
  • Spray Rose Orange to scatter the tone in miniature
  • Solidago for golden filler that extends the warmth

Care notes

Re-cut at 45° under running water; first hydration in 95–100°F water with preservative, then hold at 34–38°F. The packed rosette opens slower than a standard spiral — allow three days and resist the urge to force it warm, which dulls the color. Support the dense head in sleeves until the build. Moderately ethylene-sensitive.

What working pros say

"Mandarin Xpression is my October focal. That swirled face over a bed of solidago does the entire harvest-table brief without a single pumpkin."

"Eighty petals of orange is a different argument than fifty. When it opens, clients stop asking why garden roses cost more."
