Select Carnation
The signature blush pink. Grown by curated partner growers across the Ecuadorian and Colombian highlands.
The most underrated stem in wholesale, currently mid-comeback. Standard carnations — one full ruffled head per stem — pack more petal surface per dollar than anything else we ship, run two to three weeks in the vase, and carry the widest color range in the catalog: twelve options from clean white through burgundy, lavender, and edged picotee forms. The designers massing fifty heads into a single cloud-like dome rediscovered what florists knew for a century: this flower is a workhorse with couture potential.
The grow story
Grown by our partner specialty growers in the Ecuadorian and Colombian highlands, working under cold-chain standards equivalent to Magnaflor's own production at Cayambe. Carnations were the original crop of the Andean flower belt — Colombia remains the world's reference grower — and the cool highland nights build the tight, heavy-petaled heads and wiry stems the category is judged on. Partner growers are vetted for color stability and head consistency that match our quality bar.

Best for
Massed monobotanical designs — the carnation dome is the look of the moment — budget-stretching event work where heads substitute for roses at a third of the spend, boutonnieres that survive a twelve-hour wedding day, and retail programs that need two reliable weeks. Mix heads with focals from our wholesale rose range.
Pairs beautifully with
- Freedom (signature red) with burgundy carnations beneath
- Vi Pink (medium pink rose) for the tonal pink build
- Spray Carnation for the same ruffle at branched scale
- Green Ball for round green texture between heads
- Baby's Breath for the classic recipe, now back in style
Care notes
Ethylene is the one enemy: carnations are among the most ethylene-sensitive flowers in commerce, and exposure shows as sleepiness — petals curling inward days early. Keep them far from fruit and aging flowers. Otherwise they are nearly indestructible: re-cut between the stem nodes (not on them) at 45°, hydrate with preservative, hold at 34–38°F, and change water weekly.
What working pros say
"I quote a carnation dome next to a rose dome and let the client choose. Same look from across the room, a third of the price, twice the vase life."
— Event florist, St. Louis (12 yrs experience)
"Cut between the nodes — it's the first thing I teach new hires. Cut on the joint and the stem won't drink; miss it and you'll blame the flower."
— Studio florist, Omaha (17 yrs experience)
