Delphinium
The signature true blue. Grown by curated partner growers across the Ecuadorian and Colombian highlands.
The vertical answer to the blue problem. Delphinium carries true blue — no dye, no spray — up a tall spike of open florets, giving designers the one thing the rose category cannot: height and blue in a single stem. Where blue hydrangea solves blue as mass, delphinium solves it as line, drawing the eye upward in arrangements that would otherwise sit low and round. Also available in lavender and white when the palette calls for the same architecture in a softer voice.
The grow story
Grown by our partner specialty growers in the Ecuadorian and Colombian highlands, working under cold-chain standards equivalent to Magnaflor's own production at Cayambe. Delphinium builds its spike in cool weather, and the highland climate delivers that coolness year-round instead of one season a year — which is why the stems run straight and the floret count stays heavy from January to December. Partner growers are vetted for color stability and head consistency that match our quality bar.

Best for
Tall centerpieces and pedestal arrangements that need vertical line, blue wedding palettes alongside hydrangea, garden-style designs that want meadow height, and sympathy work where the upward gesture reads intentionally. A few stems change the silhouette of an entire arrangement. Set the rounded forms beneath it from our wholesale rose range.
Pairs beautifully with
- Blue Hydrangea for blue as mass beneath blue as line
- Cool Water (silvery lavender rose) to bridge into violet
- Country Blues (purple garden rose) for the deep end
- Solidago for contrasting golden spray texture
- Baby's Breath to fill the airspace between spikes
Care notes
Ethylene sensitivity is high — the highest in this category. Florets shatter near fruit, ripening produce, or aging flowers, so cooler discipline is the whole game with delphinium. Re-cut at 45° and hydrate immediately in cool water with preservative; hollow stems airlock if left dry. Hold at 34–38°F away from airflow that knocks florets. Transport upright — spikes laid flat will curve upward overnight and set that way.
What working pros say
"Delphinium is how I make a centerpiece tall without making it heavy. The spike does the architecture and the florets keep it from reading like a stick."
— Event florist, Minneapolis (13 yrs experience)
"Keep it away from the fruit cooler. I learned that the expensive way — one banana box, and Monday's delivery was confetti by Wednesday."
— Wedding floral designer, Tampa (8 yrs experience)
