Statice
The signature deep purple. Grown by curated partner growers across the Ecuadorian and Colombian highlands.
The filler with two lives. Statice — sinuata statice, the bolder-built sibling of hybrid limonium — carries clusters of papery purple blooms on strong, winged stems, and those petals are dry to the touch from the day they arrive. That paper construction is the superpower: statice holds its full color fresh for three weeks, then transitions to a dried flower without a single day of looking dead in between. The purple is the classic — deep violet calyces that hold their saturation for months.
The grow story
Sourced from our curated partner growers in the Ecuadorian and Colombian highlands. Fillers and foliage may grow at lower altitudes than roses, but the cold-chain integrity and grading standards remain consistent with our own production. Statice is a sun crop — the intense equatorial light builds the thick, papery calyces and saturates the violet — while cool highland nights keep the winged stems rigid and the clusters dense.

Best for
Purple and jewel-tone palettes that need durable color, market bunches and subscription work judged on week-two appearance, everlasting and dried-flower programs — statice is the foundation crop of the dried category — and budget designs where one bunch delivers weeks of saturated filler. Where limonium is mist, statice is mosaic. Set the focal layer from our wholesale rose range.
Pairs beautifully with
- Violet Hill (deep violet rose) for the saturated build
- Purple Hydrangea for mass behind the clusters
- Limonium to run both statice textures in one recipe
- Stock for fragrant purple spikes above the filler
- Achillea Yellow for the violet-gold complementary play
Care notes
Among the most forgiving stems in the trade. Re-cut at 45°, clean water with preservative, and strip the few leaves below the line. Low ethylene sensitivity and complete cooler tolerance at 34–38°F. The papery blooms shrug off handling, but the winged stems can trap water and soften — keep water levels moderate and fresh. To dry deliberately, hang upside down in a dark, ventilated space; color holds for a year.
What working pros say
"Statice is the last survivor of every market bunch. Week three, the roses are a memory and the purple is still doing its job."
— Retail florist, Tulsa (14 yrs experience)
"I tell brides their bouquet comes with a souvenir built in. Hang it after the wedding and the statice keeps the color where everything else fades to beige."
— Wedding floral designer, Eugene (9 yrs experience)
